Cappadocia is a marvelous region in middle Turkey renowned for its fairytale landscape, cave dwellings, exceptional rock formations, and, of course, the hundreds of hot air balloons that soar in the sky during sunrise each day. The fresco-adorned rock-cut churches of Göreme Open-Air Museum and the subterranean refugees of Derinkuyu and Kaymaklı are the most famous sights in Cappadocia. Cappadocia underground cities are a chain of magnificent subterranean cities built by the ‘cave goers’. Of the almost forty known Cappadocia subterrene cities, some in Nevshir are open to the public, including Kaymaklı, Derinkuyu, Özkonak, Mazi, and Ürgüp.
